Question

How does the short circuit form? What is its effect?

Open in App
Solution

Short circuit: Whenever naked live and neutral wires touch each other, a short circuit occurs.

Ohm's law: Current in a circuit is inversely proportional to the resistance.

  1. A short circuit causes a drop in resistance of the circuit.
  2. According to Ohm's law, the current will then increase.
  3. This leads to the wires becoming hot and sparks being caused by Joule's heating effect of current.
