Question

How does the size of the shadow of an object change as the distance between the source of light, the object and the screen are changed?

Open in App
Solution

The shadow will get smaller as the distance increases and will get bigger as the distance decreases. This is because of the narrower angular projection of the shadow when the object is farther vs the wider angle of projection when the object is closer.
