How does the total surface area of a box change if each dimension is tripled?

Open in App
Solution

Total surface area,T.S.A of a box=6×side2

let side=a

So,

TSA(old)=6a2

If side=3a

TSA(new)=

6(3a)2=6×9a2=54a2

Thus TSA will be 9 times if side is tripled
