Question

How does the volume and density of water change with a change in temperature?

Open in App
Solution

  1. We shall discuss the change of temperature on the density and volume of water like this-
  2. When we increase the temperature the particles gain kinetic energy and start moving away from each other because of that both the volume and density of the water increase.
  3. Whereas on the other hand when we decrease the temperature the energy of the particles decreases and they come closer to each other because of that the volume as well as density of water decreases.
  4. Thus the change in temperature is directly proportional to volume and density.
