How does water gets polluted?
Due to the dumping of sewage into rivers or lakes
Due to the dumping of wastes from factories into rivers or lakes
Due to oil spills in the oceans.
Due to pesticides and fertilizers that are added to our crops are washed into water bodies
Water can be polluted by a number of ways:
(i) A major fraction of pesticides and fertilizers that are added to our crops are washed into water bodies and goes underground, thereby entering in the food chain and affecting the variety of life forms.
(ii) Due to the dumping of sewage into rivers or lakes the water gets polluted.
(iii) Due to the dumping of wastes from factories into rivers or lakes, the purity of water is affected.
(iv) Due to oil spills in the oceans, there is a cutoff of oxygen supply for aquatic animals which thereby affects the aquatic animals.
