Question

how does water protect crops frm frost and hot air currents

Open in App
Solution

Water is absorbed by the plant roots. Along with water, minerals and fertilisers are also absorbed. Plants contain nearly 90% water. Thus it has a good heat absorbing capacity. Also, water protects them from the cold air temperatures. The water freezes onto the crop, a process that releases heat and provides the necessary warmth to protect the crop from the harsh freezing temperatures that could cause damage.
