Preparation of dry ice:-

• Dry ice is nothing but the solid form or the frozen form of Carbon dioxide$\left({\mathrm{CO}}_2\right)$.
• Generally Carbon dioxide exists in the gaseous state.
• When Carbon dioxide$\left({\mathrm{CO}}_2\right)$ is kept at a temperature of $-78°\mathrm{C}$ and then compressed, it gets converted into solid directly from the gaseous state, without getting converted to liquid.
• This change in state is also called de-sublimation or deposition.

Therefore, dry ice is made when Carbon dioxide is kept at a temperature of $-78°\mathrm{C}$ and compressed.
