The wildlife protection act prohibits people from catching and keeping snakes. As a result of this law, people of the Kalbeliya community moved away from snake charming. They are now farmers and raise cows and poultry animals like hen. These domestic animals are taken good care and in return, they provide the people with eggs, milk etc.
