  1. Hypoglycemia occurs when the level of blood sugar (glucose) drops too low.
  2. In hepatocytes and adipocytes (adipose tissue cells), insulin stimulates glucose absorption and utilization.
  3. The rapid movement of glucose from the bloodstream to cells and adipose tissue cells causes hypoglycemia.
