Dear student,
An infectious agent which could be any bacteria, virus or any other pathogen after entering our body attacks our body's immune system. Firstly, the infectious agent competes with the physical barriers of the body like skin, tears, etc. If the physical barriers fail to do so then second line of defence comes into play, which includes various blood cells like macrophages, WBCs, T-cells, B-cells and products produced by them like antibodies. A weak immune system where even these blood cells does not act properly or provide necessary protection leads to an infectious or diseased condition in the body. Finally it leads to health deterioration of a particular individual.
Regards.
