Solution

Adaptation:

  1. The presence of specific body features (or certain habits) which enable a plant or an animal to love in a particular habitat is called adaptation.

Adaptations in camel:

  1. Camels, also known as the ship of the deserts, are found in hot deserts with low rainfall. Therefore, water scarcity and heat are the major challenges with survival to overcome,
  2. Adaptive features in camel that helps with survival are as follow:
  • Camels have thick soles in their large feet which helps them to walk easily on the sand.
  • Perspiration is of negligible quantity and very little water is lost through urination. The pellets are dry and this helps them go without water for a long period.
  • Whenever water is available, they consume a lot of water and store it as fat in their body, conserving it for later use.
  • The heat coming from the sand does not affect the camels due to their long legs which keep their body at a good height above the hot sands.
