How is a mixture different from a compound?
Each substance in a mixture keeps most of its characteristic properties but the properties of a compound changes.
A mixture retains most of the characteristic properties of the components it is made up from. While the properties of a compound are different from that of its constituents.
For example, Hydrogen is flammable and oxygen supports burning. While water, a compound, made up of hydrogen and oxygen, is used to extinguish the fire!
If we take an example of a mixture, such as lemonade, its components like lemon juice and sugar can easily be recognized, they retain their properties.
