The chemical substance Ethanol ( $C_{2} H_{5} O H$ ) is known as absolute alcohol also called as Ethyl alcohol ( $C_{2} H_{5} O H$ ). The Ethyl alcohol ( $C_{2} H_{5} O H$ ) must contain no more than $1 %$ of Water ( $H_{2} O$ ) to be considered "absolute."
By distilling wet alcohol with Benzene ( $C_{6} H_{6}$ ), absolute alcohol can be obtained. The combination of water ( $H_{2} O$ ) and Benzene ( $C_{6} H_{6}$ ) distils away, leaving behind anhydrous alcohol.
