Acromegaly:

  1. Acromegaly is a disorder that occurs when the body makes too much growth hormone (GH) over a long period of time in adults.
  2. The pituitary gland is a small gland at the base of your brain, produces growth hormone and a number of other hormones.
  3. Growth hormone plays an important role in managing our physical growth.

Symptoms of acromegaly:

  1. Too much of growth hormone causes bones, cartilage, body organs, and other tissues to increase in size.
  2. The hands and feet grow abnormally long.
  3. The head enlarges in size
  4. Elongation of the jaws are visible
  5. Acromegaly is caused due to excessive growth hormone which leads to increase in the size of extremities, head and jaw.
