Question

How is an earthworm able to move without having bones?

Open in App
Solution

Earthworm:

  1. During a movement, the earthworm extends the front half of its body while keeping the back half anchored to the ground.
  2. The front end of the body is then fixed, while the back end is released.
  3. To do so, earthworm muscles expand and contract repeatedly.
  4. Thus, without bones, they can move.
