How is an electromagnet different from a permanent magnet?

Electromagnet is any object which behaves like a magnet and creates a magnetic field around itself when an electric current passes through it. As soon as the electric current stops flowing the objects losses its magnetism. A permanent magnet is the original magnet with all the magnetic properties which attracts metals and remains a magnet till you kaap it safe.
