  1. Natural selection is the process by which the phenomenon of survival of the fittest.
  2. Bacteria have been found to develop antibiotic resistance, hence this is an example of antibiotic resistance.
  3. Natural selection in bacteria happens when it develops antibiotic resistance.
  4. Widespread overuse and misuse of antibiotics have led to an increase in the resistance of microbes against antibiotics.
  5. For example the strain Staphylococcus aureus has become resistant to methicillin.
  6. Hence, Staphylococcus aureus has become a superbug due to its methicillin resistance which causes a potential threat it poses to human health and its complete resistance to the existing drugs.
