How is clay soil useful for crops?

Open in App
Solution

Clay soil:

  1. Clay is said to be the smallest particle among the other two types of soil.
  2. The particles of these soils are tightly packed together with each other with very little or no airspace between them.
  3. This soil is known for very good water storage qualities and makes it hard for moisture and air to penetrate it, making it easier for crops to grow.
  4. It is usually very sticky when wet and smooth when dried.
  5. Clay soil is the densest and heaviest type of soil that does not drain easily, therefore, providing space for plant roots to flourish.
