How is couple different from torque

Torque is produced due to a single force . It is the turning effect of a force.e.g We rotate a spanner in a clockwise direction to tighten a nut.The turning effect produced is called the torque or moment of force.

Couple is produced due to two forces that are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction(unlike parallel forces) but do not have the same line of action.e.g a double arm spanner or a steering wheel etc.
