Solution

The atmosphere of Earth:

  1. It is the gaseous mixture that envelops the earth. It is also referred to as the atmosphere and remains in place because of the gravity of the Earth.
  2. It is composed of various gases primarily oxygen (21%), nitrogen (79%), carbon dioxide (0.04%), noble gases (mainly argon up to 0.9%), water vapour (variable), and trace elements (variable) etc.
  3. The various components in the air are crucial for the sustenance and survival of plants and animals.

The atmosphere of Venus:

  1. The air of Venus is extremely hot and thick.
  2. It is composed of 96% carbon dioxide by volume and hence is extremely unsuitable for human life. The remaining is taken up by nitrogen.

The atmosphere of Mars:

  1. The air of Mars is thin and cold.
  2. It is formed of 95% carbon dioxide by volume. The remaining is occupied by diatomic nitrogen.
