How is energy produced in cells?

Open in App
Solution

Cells get energy by breaking down food molecules to release, the stored chemical energy. This process is called 'cellular respiration'. The process happens in all cells of our body. Oxygen is used to oxidize food. The food that is mainly oxidized for energy production is sugar (glucose).
The process of cellular respiration is quite complex which include various steps, viz. glycolysis, Krebs's cycle and electron transport system.
