Open in App
Solution

Instructions:
  • List the characteristics of mechanised boat
  • List the characteristics of Karrateppa
Solution:
Characteristics of Karrateppa:
  • Karrateppa is a country-made boat which goes up to 5 km into the sea.
  • Manages to get only a small catch of fish and is sold in the nearby towns.
  • These boats do not require fuel to run.
  • As it doesn’t go far into the sea, it is easier to retreat when necessary.
Characteristics of mechanised boats:
  • These are mechanised boats which require fuel to run and can go up to 15-20 kilometres in the sea.
  • Gets a large catch of fish sold to a large market and carried to faraway places like Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kerala, and so on in container tanks.
  • Compared to the Karrateppa, there is far more risk of life in the mechanised boat called Marapadava. Because it goes far into the sea, it is difficult to swim over to the shore in times of trouble. Apart from that, there is no first aid available in the big boats or life jackets.
