Solution

Crystallization: The process of cooling a hot, concentrated solution of a substance to obtain crystals is called crystallisation.

The various steps of purification used for impure copper sulphate are:

  1. Pour the impure copper sulphate in a china dish.
  2. Filter out the impurities after dissolving them in a minimum amount of water.
  3. Saturate the copper sulphate solution by evaporating water.
  4. Cover the solution with filter paper and let it cool slowly at room temperature for a day.
  5. Crystals of pure copper sulphate form in the china dish.
  6. Hence we obtain pure copper sulphate.
