Question

How is it possible to make reversible reaction irreversible?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Reversible reaction: A reaction in which reactants are converted into products and products are converted back to the reactants simultaneously.
  2. Irreversible reaction: In an irreversible reaction, the products do not react together to reform the reactants.
  3. According to Le-Chatelier’s principle, if any change is made to equilibrium then the position of equilibrium shifts in order to counteract that change to re-establish the equilibrium.
  4. So, by removing the product it is possible to make the reversible reaction irreversible as this condition will always shift the equation in the forward direction.
