How is near and far point of a eye taken as V and U in myopic or hypermetropia eye ?

U is always negative both in myopia and hypermetropia and v is negative in myopia [concave lens] while v is positive for real and inverted images but negative for virtual and erect images in hypermetropia [ convex lense].
