Formation of plant embryo:

  1. Embryo is the developed form of a zygote that is formed after the fertilization of male and female gametes.
  2. After formation, the zygote undergoes division and differentiation to form an embryo.
  3. In the case of plants, the embryo is formed after the process of syngamy takes place in the plants.
  4. Syngamy is the process of fusion of the male gamete which is pollen grains with the female gamete which is an egg cell.
  5. The embryo in the case of plants is formed at the micropylar end of the female gametophyte or embryo sac.
  6. The process of triple fusion results in the formation of endosperm which nourishment to the developing embryo.
