How is pollination different from fertilisation?

Open in App
Solution

Pollination Fertilisation
Seen only in plants Seen in both plants and animals.
Pollination is the process in which the male gamete in the form of pollen is transferred to the stigma of a flowering plant. Fertilisation is the process of fusion of the male gamete and the female gamete for the production of the zygote. In plants, it occurs after pollination when the pollen grain reaches through the style to the ovary where it fuses with the egg.
