Question

How is process of pollination different from fertilisation?

Open in App
Solution

The process of pollination is simply the transfer of pollen from one flower to other onto the stigma. The process of fertilization is what happens after the pollen is transferred into the stigma, that is, when the male and female gametes from the zygote.
Pollination takes place only in flowering plants whereas, fertilization happens in almost all animals and plants.
