it is essentially required for the action of enzymes because if enzymes do not get environment they are suitable with they either degrade or stop working which will affect the process completed as for the action of pepsin the pH of stomach is to be acidic for action and for pancreatic juice and succus entericus it is mandatory to be alkaline.
