Question

How is snow blindness caused in humans?

Open in App
Solution

The ozone layer absorbs a major amount of UV-B rays but its thinning causes a majority of these rays to penetrate through and reach the earth's surface. The human eye has a tendency of absorbing UV-B radiation. So, high doses of UV-B causes inflammation of the cornea leading to snow blindness.
