The relation of soap with chemistry:

  • Soaps are salts which are prepared by the combination of bases like alkali metal hydroxide and acids like fatty acids. Thus, they are also known as Alkali salts.
  • We can also check pH level of soap by the litmus test. The pH always range for soap is 8or9.
  • The structure of soap contains two major parts one is the head which is hydrophilic in nature and the other is the tail which is hydrophobic in nature. The head is water soluble while the tail is dirt soluble. Thus, clothes get cleaned.

Hence, Soap's structure, characteristics and formation are related to chemistry.
