Question

How is the apparent weight of the floating body 0?

Open in App
Solution

Apparent weight of a body in a fluid means it's weight when the object is immersed completely or partially in the fluid. If an object is immersed in a fluid and the buoyant force acted on the object is equal to the actual weight of the object then they cancel each other as they are opposite in direction. Hence the apparent weight of a floating body becomes zero.
