Solution
Oxygen and carbon dioxide both play a very crucial role in maintaining life on earth.
Oxygen: It is a vital component of air that enable living organisms to oxidize their glucose and get energy for doing day-to-day work and in absence of oxygen living organisms can not be in the position of being live.
Carbon dioxide: It also plays a very important role in maintaining the earth's temperature so that the temperature of the earth can be favorable for living organisms. It also maintains the blood pH of the human body.
Balancing of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere: Oxygen is produced by green plants by the process of photosynthesis and consumed by all living organisms while carbon dioxide is produced by all living organisms by the process called respiration and consumed by the plant for doing photosynthesis.
In this manner the balancing of both these gases are takes place in the atmosphere.
