Flavr Savr is the transgenetic GMO tomato produced by genetic engineering. Flavr Savr tomato has longer and more flavor shelf line than conventional tomatoes because of its delayed ripening. Delayed ripening is possible by reducing the amount of cell wall degrading enzyme ' Polygalacturonase ' responsible for fruit softening.
