How Is the level of gonadotropin hormones affected during lactational amenorrhoea

Open in App
Solution

Dear student
It is due to the increased presence of gonadotrophin called PROLACTIN. At an increased level of prolactin blocks the release of other gonadotrophins like estrogens. Estrogens are necessary for ovulation to occur. Hence without estrogens, women will not ovulate, and hence the pregnancy is prevented further. This is one of the contraceptive effects
