Question
How is the strength of the covalent bond related to overlapping of the orbitals?

Solution
If overlap of orbitals takes place by side on side overlap bonds will be strong as the electrons will be near to both the nucleus.
If its end on end overlap then nucleus will be far apart from each so it will be weak.
