Question

How is the tertiary structure of a polypeptide related to its primary structure?

Open in App
Solution

The primary structure of a protein is formed by linear peptide bonding between amino acids. These amino acids then link to each other by hydrogen bonds forming the secondary structure of proteins and ultimately the attractions between alpha helices and beta pleated sheet result in the formation of the tertiary structure of proteins, therefore, the primary structure of protein serves as the base of these structures.
