Question

how it can be proved that the basis of structure of the modern periodic table is based on the electronic configuration of atoms of different elements

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The periodic table is a tabular display of the chemical elements organized on the basis of their atomic numbers. Elements are presented in increasing atomic number. Electronic configuration, in turn, depends on atomic number.

The elements with same number of total count of orbit (or shells) are placed in the same period of modern periodic table.
The elements with same number of valence electrons (e- in outermost orbit) are placed in the same group of modern periodic table.
