Solution

Seed viability:

  1. A wide range of factors influence seed viability.
  2. It also varies from species to species.
  3. Some seeds have a short shelf life and can only be planted for a few months. Several other species, on the other hand, produce seeds that can remain viable for many years.
  4. The seeds produced by Lupinus arcticus, which was discovered and excavated from the Arctic Tundra, remained dormant for the longest period of time. Over a 10,000-year period, the seeds remained dormant. It then grew and flowered.
  5. However, after 2000 years, the seed of a Date Palm tree was discovered to be viable. Most seeds have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years on average.
  6. Willow plant seeds have the shortest viability period, lasting less than a week.
