Blastocyst:

  1. The blastocyst is the early stage of the embryo that is formed 5-6 days after the fertilization of the egg by sperm.
  2. The blastocyst consists of an inner cell mass, trophoblast, and blastocoel.
  3. The inner cell mass develops into the embryo whereas the trophoblast gives rise to the chorion and amnion.
  4. The blastocyst gets implanted into the uterine wall and adheres to the endometrium.
