Question

How many carbons will be there in a sp3 hybridised carbon

Open in App
Solution

  1. carbon is said to be sp3 hybridised when it it is SINGLY BONDED with any other 3 atoms…for example: mathane( CH4 )
  2. In the ammonia molecule (NH3), 2s and 2p orbitals create four sp3 hybrid orbitals.

so its not about number of carbon atoms present. Number can be varied with different compounds.
