Question

How many chromosomes are in each daughter cell in mitosis and meiosis respectively ?

Open in App
Solution

Mitosis occurs in body cells to maintain the same chromosome number in all cells. So, the daughter cells formed during mitosis have the same number of chromosomes as the mother and are also identical to the parent cell. During meiosis four haploid daughter cells are produced, each having half the number of chromosomes as that of the mother cell.
