Chromosome:
These are thread-like structures present inside the nucleus of the cell, they are an important part of an organism as they are made up of DNA or RNA.
These genetic material helps to carry information from one generation to another.
Chromosomes were first discovered by Strasburger in 1815 and the term ‘chromosome’ was first used by Waldeyer in 1888.
There are 23 pairs of chromosomes or we can say 46 chromosomes in the human body.
In these 23 pairs, only one pair is our sex chromosome or the allosome.
Remaining 22 pairs are autosomes in our body.
So there are in total 46 chromosomes in our body.
