  5. Examples- Trygon, Torpedo, Scoliodon, Pristis, etc.

Osteichthyes:

  1. These fishes have a bony endoskeleton.
  2. This group includes both marine and freshwater fishes.
  3. They have a terminally located mouth.
  4. They have two-chambered hearts and are poikilotherms.
  5. Examples- Exocetus, Hippocampus, Labeo, Clarias, etc.

Common characteristics between Chondrichthyes and Osteichthyes:

  1. Both of these are aquatic fishes and belong to the class Pisces.
  2. Respiration in both of these groups occurs through gills.
  3. Both of these groups of fishes are cold-blooded or poikilotherms.
  4. They possess mouths with jaws.
