Solution

The external dimensions of the box are 36 cm, 25 cm and 16.5 cm and the thickness of the iron sheet is 1.5 cm.
Therefore, internal dimensions of the box are (36-3)cm,
(25-3) cm and (16.5-3) cm.
i.e., 33 cm, 22 cm and 13.5 cm
volume of the sheet =volume of external box -volume of internal box
=36×25×16.533×22×13.5
=148509801=5049 cm3
Since, the weight of 1 cm3 of iron =7.5 g=7.51000 kg
Hence, the weight of the empty box 7.51000×5049=37.87 kg.
