Essential Elements of Plants:

  1. There are around 17 mineral elements that are regarded to be necessary for plant growth as well as metabolism.
  2. These elements are called essential elements.
  3. Essential elements are divided into two categories - Micronutrients (required in small quantities) and macronutrients (required in large quantities).
  4. Macronutrients are a group of ten nutrients which are - Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, sulphur, iron, and magnesium.
  5. Plants contain a total of seven micronutrients, which are - Chlorine, manganese, copper, molybdenum, boron, zinc, and nickel.
