Solution

Ovarian follicle:

Ovarian follicle, or a Graafian follicle, is a small, fluid-filled sac in the ovary that contains one immature egg.

Number of follicles in each ovary:

  1. Each ovary contains around 60,000 – 80,000 primary follicles at the time of puberty. Most of the follicles degenerate before puberty.
  2. A woman is considered to have normal ovarian reserve if the follicle count is 6-10.
