Question

How many grams of NaOH must be dissolved in 1g of 1L of solution to have a solution of pH=12. Find molarity.

Open in App
Solution

Here pH is 12
pH+pOH=14
therefore, pOH=2
pOH=log[OH]
log[OH]=2
OH=0.01mol(L)
Therefore there are 0.01moles of NaOH in 1L of Solution
Mass of NaOH=Molecular mass×n=40g(mol)×0.01mol=0.4g
