2NaHCO3HeatNa2CO3+CO2+H2O
Given mass of NaHCO3 = 8.4 g
Molar mass of NaHCO3 = 84 g
Number of moles of NaHCO3 = 8.484
= 0.1 moles
2 moles of NaHCO3 gives 1 mole of Na2CO3 on heating.

Number of moles of Na2CO3 produced on heating 0.1 moles of NaHCO3 = 0.12=0.05 moles

Mass of Na2CO3 produced
=Number of moles of Na2CO3 produced× Molar mass of Na2CO3
= 0.05 moles×106 g mol1
