How many joules are there in one-kilowatt hour?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given

We know that a kilowatt is a unit of power.

One kilowatt is the amount of work done by a body in one hour.

1kWh=1000Wh

Also 1h=60min and 1min=60s

1h=60×60

=3600s

Step 2: Converting kWh into joules.

1kWh=1000W×3600s

=3600000Ws

=3.6×106J

Hence, there are 3.6×106 joules in one-kilowatt hour.
